Dementia Support Workers 5 Steps to Living Well with Dementia introduced Dementia Support Workers as part of the service offered by the project. Our Dementia Support Workers have been trained with specialist skills and knowledge to support people living with dementia. Dementia Support Workers offer supports to meet the individual interests and abilities of the person living with dementia. The DSWs have insurance so they can take people out in their cars, and engage them in their own lives in the community. Their interventions are primarily activity based, it may involve focusing on achieving goals, connecting with existing supports and/or supporting the PwD’s participation with in their own community. The dementia support worker is a new and innovative way of providing home based support. It is dynamically evolving with the project's development.
