Dementia Training and Education
The Living Well with Dementia provides a free 2 Day dementia education programme for health professionals and family carers.
The following are the dates for 2018
The programme is delivered by experts in dementia care:
Memory Rehab Group
The Living Well with Dementia Services provides a five week memory rehabilitation programme for people recently diagnosed with dementia. It aims to provide information about dementia and issues that may arise. It also provides strategies and techniques that can be used to assist people with memory problems in optimising management of their daily lives and activities.
The programme is run 4 times a year and is available to people with 'mild dementia'. A family member is also requested to attend. Access to the programme is via referral from the memory clinic or your GP.
People who do not satisfy criteria for the rehab programme can avail of an assessment by the nurse specialist with regard to other available information and supports.
Living well with Dementia at your local Library
A leaflet produced by the Tipperary County Council Library Services and the Living Well with Dementia Service is available at your local library. It outlines the supports available there and recommends books for Adults and Children about dementia. Pick one up in your local library and check out other events taking place on a weekly basis.
Understand Together is a public support, awareness and information campaign led by the HSE, working with the Alzheimer's Society of Ireland and Genio. It aims to inspire people from all sections of society to stand together with the 55,000 Irish people living with dementia.
The campaign seeks to build on the wide range of dementia specific programmes and initiatives already in place around Ireland. It will draw together the people and organisations involved in this work, to join them with wider society, with the health service, with new partners like retail and transport organisations, financial services, and with neighbours and friends, to create a national movement which will help support those living with dementia and their loved ones.
